The Student Experiences in STEM (SESTEM) project at the University of Reading aims to better understand the experiences of undergraduate students in STEM degrees, especially those who self-consider as from ‘Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic’ (BAME) backgrounds. The long-term goal is to understand and eventually develop strategies or resources to reduce the BAME attainment gap at university. The project began in October 2018 and will run for three years, collecting up to 90 interviews and 180 termly journals from undergraduate STEM students.
